筆架山是一座海島，地貌學上稱為陸連島。筆架山島南北長1120米，東西最寬處220米，海拔78.3米。
在筆架山風景區，流傳著“盤古開天，筆架成山”，以及“仙女造橋”等一系列優美的神話傳說，給筆架山和天橋增添了及其神秘的色彩。
正門
筆架山風景區的正門也叫海門，由清華大學設計，南側是彩虹式拱形龍門，象征著“天橋”；北側是兩把金鑰匙造型，寓意著金鑰匙打開景區大門，讓游客跨上天橋登臨神秘的筆架山島。
天橋
這座“仙女造橋”雕像，就來源于仙女造橋”的神話傳說，說是天宮中有兩位九天仙女，為了方便筆架山岸邊的人們上山采藥，偷偷地從天宮下凡，在海岸和筆架山之間拋撒下無數的珍珠，造成了今天的天橋。

大家看，前面的筆架山島恰似一座筆架柱海魔天，三峰列峙，在大海之中孤島獨秀，真是令人稱奇。
真人觀
這座真人觀，由筆架山開山祖師朱潔貞的弟子于1939年建成，是為紀念道號玉清真人的朱潔貞羽化升天所建，真人觀內藏著朱潔貞的真尸。
呂祖亭
于1938年建成的呂祖亭，一層供奉的神像是“八仙過海”傳說中的兩位神仙，東為漢鐘離，西為呂洞賓。二層供奉的是太乙救苦天尊，也叫十方救苦天尊。呂祖亭南面的平坦之處，曾經是明朝的守軍屯糧之所。明清松錦大戰時期，皇太極派人奪取了明軍囤積在此的糧草，致使明軍大敗。
盤古開天廣場
大家可以看到盤古當年開天的兩把巨斧的雕塑，傳說筆架山是當年盤古開天站腳之處。雕塑基座上雕刻著“盤古開天，筆架成山”的神話故事。傳說盤古開天辟地時，從斧把上掰下兩塊小木片扔到海里，不一會就出現大小兩個小島，盤古將腳踩在上面，竟將原本高聳的兩個海島從中間踩塌成了山腰，后人稱之為大、小筆架山。
三清閣
前面的三清閣高6層，總高26.2米，是全國規模最大的全石結構建筑，6層上下沒有一釘一木，是我國建筑史上規模最大的全石結構的建筑。
三清閣里的漢白玉石人物雕像和浮雕，來源于道教、佛教、儒家和中國民間崇拜的眾多神靈，甚至古典小說《封神榜》中“闡教”“截教”的多路神仙也在這里供奉。
三層供奉的是孔子。四層供奉著清元君。五層供奉著道教的最高神“三清”，面西而坐的是玉清元始天尊，面東而坐的是上清靈寶天尊，面南而坐的是太清道德天尊。除“三清”之外，面北而坐的是慈航道人（就是佛教中的觀音）。
三清閣的最高層，供奉著中國古代傳說中的開天辟地之神盤古，是中國唯一的海上盤古造像。三清閣這座盤古像，冠頂頭飾上有吉祥神鳥，左眼是太陽，右眼是月亮，雙耳和兩個鼻孔、嘴巴是五條小龍，座下是一條奔騰的巨龍，托盤古于滔滔渤海中的仙島之上，真是一位威風凜凜、開天辟地的至尊天神。

錦州市位于遼寧省西部，面積10301平方公里，相當于10個香港那么大（香港面積1070平方公里）市區面積440平方公里，人中為296.8萬，市區人中為75.6萬有漢，滿，蒙古，回等26個民族。錦州有著悠久的歷史，燦爛的文化。據考證，數萬年前，這里就有人類生息繁衍，錦州最早稱徒河，據傳虞舜時就已筑城。
歷代給錦州留下了許多遺址，墓葬及歷史文物。錦州是歷代兵家必經的戰略要地，是明清大戰的主戰場，又是解放戰爭時期遼沈戰役的主要戰場。錦州開發區是中國東北開發區最便捷的進出海口之一，是遼西地區對外開放的窗口和前沿，它規劃開發面積58平方公里，首期開發7平方公里，主要吸引各方面資金興辦面向國際市場的技術密集型工業企業，興建高級賓館，飯店，商場，別墅，游樂中心其中筆架山風景區以其得天獨得厚的旅游資源成為旅游度假區，筆架山風景區位于錦州本南沿海地區，距市中心有37公里。
筆架山海拔76，南北長4華里，規模顯然遜色于內地的名山，但因其危立于茫茫渤海之中，所以登臨遠眺，卻別有一番情致。若晴日，波平浪靜，金光萬道，若凌晨，煙霧迷離，赤橙黃綠，變化萬千……既久，心胸則如大海一樣坦蕩，確有“閣中開明月，窗里發云霧”之妙處。
景區內有大筆架山，小筆架山，天橋和海濱浴場等組成的自然風光，山上還有筆峰山門，呂祖亭，五母宮，三清閣和一線天等景點，各個景點都有美妙的神話，傳說，世代傳誦使人浮想聯翩，那么筆架山是怎能么形成的呢？傳說遠古時候，這里原是一片汪洋，后來二郎神擔來兩座山放到海里，才形成大小兩座海島，也就是今天的大小筆架山。那么，我們今天主要參觀大小筆架山，好了，我們的目的地到了，請大家下車隨我來。
大家請看，近海處有一座海島，亭亭兀立于煙波浩渺的大海之中，云纏霧繞巍峨矗峙。因狀如筆架，故得名筆架山，每當旭日噴薄面海，筆架山身披萬道霞光，被流金閃動的大海哄托著，遠遠望去，司令員似項天立地的長毫，被誰揮動著，書萬般神奇。這奇觀，便是前人稱謂的筆峰插海，是錦州八景之中的佼佼者，清翰林院陸善林曾有詩贊成日：筆尖端端聳碧天，峰頭雨后起云煙，插來倒影汪洋里，海浪翻波納川。
大筆架山距海岸有1600多米，天橋是連接筆架山和海岸的紐帶，所以素有“筆峰插海”天下一絕的美稱，除筆峰插海之外，錦州八景還有：石棚松景，紫荊朝旭，虹螺晚照，錦水回紋，湯水冬魚，凌河煙雨，古塔昏鴉，即為清初之來的錦州八景。
大家再請看，我們身長后的這兩位仙女的雕像，旁邊還注有“仙女造橋”四個大字，我想您一定會猜想這橋必然是仙女建造的。那您為什么樣不問一下這兩位臥著，而另一位是站看的那位手里還捧著什么。這就要從一個迷人傳說說起：相傳，在很以前，有兩位九天仙女駕著五彩祥云來到大，小筆架山（在大筆架東北而2.5公里處，另有一小島，名國小筆架山）的上空游玩，俯視一看，這兒的水奇秀，立刻被吸引住了并想把陸地和海島連接起來，造福人間，于是姐姐便在大筆架山修養，妹妹在小筆架山個橋，約定在五更前把橋修好，姐姐生性剛強，不怕困難，她的滴滴汗珠落在海里，變成了一塊塊石子，終于在天亮前把橋修好了，姐姐擔心妹妹，變去看她，見修了一半就累的'睡著了，因天將明，組線急忙捧了把土，灑向沒修完的一段，所以至今，大筆架山的天橋是石子的，而小筆架山的天橋一半是土堆的。
